Speculation that Lionel Messi is unhappy with FC Barcelona has been circulating for a while now. But things seemed to reach a fever pitch last weekend when Barcelona lost a stunning 1-0 match to Real Sociedad, a match in which Messi spent the first half on the bench.

The Argentinean is said to be “monumentally angry” with Coach Luis Enrique, and people close to him have said Messi does not believe in Enrique moving forward.

Chelsea FC – of the English Premier League – has been a rumored destination for Messi. Monday afternoon, he stirred the pot more by following Chelsea’s official Instagram account as well as the accounts of three of its players: Thibaut Courtois, Felipe Luis and former Barcelona teammate Cesc Fabregas.

Chelsea are reportedly preparing to stun the world of football by launching a £200m move for Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.

In November, Messi hinted for the first time in his Barcelona tenure, which started at the junior level in 2000, at a potential move to a different club.

While he has always indicated that the only place he would go outside of Barcelona would be his native Argentina’s Newell’s Old Boys at the end of his career, recent signs of turmoil have led many fans to believe otherwise.

“Football has a lot of twists and turns,” he said to Sporting News in the fall. “I always said that I’d like to stay there forever, but things don’t always work out as you want them to.”
