Paris Saint-Germain defender Dani Alves has been ruled out of this summer’s World Cup finals through injury.
The Brazil international picked up a knee injury during this week’s 2-0 win over Les Herbiers in the French Cup final.
Now Fox Sports Brasil are claiming Tite and Co are drawing up a squad list without 106-cap international Alves after latest revelation.
Fox in Brazil says the update has come from one of their reporters based in Paris – who has been in contact with PSG.
The day after the injury, a Brazil spokesman told ESPN Brasil: “Following Dani Alves’ right knee injury, which occurred yesterday during the French Cup final, the tests performed today showed a high detachment of the anterior cruciate ligament with a posterolateral sprain.
“His condition requires a minimum of three weeks of care before re-evaluation.”
Initial reports suggested that Alves would be fit to join the Brazil squad in Russia but, according to Goal.com, national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar has now ruled him out of the tournament.
Alves has been a key figure for Brazil of late and was expected to start in their defence in Russia.
The Samba Boys will also be without Filipe Luis for the finals, who broke his leg playing for Atletico Madrid in March.
