England Will Need A Miracle To Win The World Cup – Kyle Walker

England right-back, Kyle Walker has admitted his country faces a herculean task to win the World Cup in Russia.

The Three Lions start their campaign against Tunisia on June 18 before taking on their other Group G rivals Panama and Belgium.

But Manchester City defender Walker knows England do not have the experience of other teams and will be relying on the support of the nation if they are to exceed expectations at the tournament.

Walker told talkSPORT said: “I hope we can go as far as we can go, but we need to be realistic.

“Winning it is going to be a miracle but we have got the players to do it.

“A lot of us play in the best league in the world, so we have the players to do it, but have we got the experience going further along in the competition? No we haven’t. Not in recent years.

So that’s where we do need the nation behind us and I’m sure the England fans will be out there singing, chanting and we do need that.”

“We need to be realistic. There are a lot of good teams out there and our record in tournaments has not been fantastic.

“We’ve had a lot of conversations inside the camp – England haven’t won a knockout game for God knows how many years, so for us to go there and win a knockout game, that would be a step in the right direction.”

England were knocked out in embarrassing fashion in Euro 2016 when they were defeated by minnows Iceland.
