ENTREPRENEUR OF THE WEEK: Sarah Benjamin-Ekpo, CEO, Babo Events Limited, Abuja

How did you get to where you are today?
I started this business in 2008 but went into it fully in 2012. The company is a complete entertainment firm for children.

What have you learnt over the years?
I have learnt about consistency. I have also been able to satisfy my customers because they are the soul of the business.

What were the challenges you faced?
In this kind of business, you have more of casual workers who don’t last most times. Also, clients not taking us seriously when talking about events management is another challenge.

How did you overcome the challenges?
I give potential clients the opportunity to do their events themselves and when they get stuck, they usually run back to us.

What are your future projections for your business?
We want to have a holistic event centre – indoor playground, fitness centre – because I want to concentrate on children.

How do you intend to achieving these projections?
We have a few people who want to partner with us and we are currently in talks with the FCDA to acquire a landed property to build our centre and other facilities for children.

Any advice for younger entrepreneurs?
Know what you want. Don’t be discouraged at what you do best.
