Luis Enrique demands £25m a year salary

Former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is reportedly demanding a salary of £25m a year in order to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners are in the hunt for a new manager after the Frenchman confirmed plans to step aside and end his 22-year reign in North London when the current campaign ends, with Enrique said to be among their top targets.

According to The Mirror, the Spaniard is said to be seeking £15m a year in earnings after tax – the equivalent to a gross salary of £25m and significantly more than Wenger’s £8m annual salary.

Enrique is also said to have flummoxed the Arsenal hierarchy with his demands for a transfer kitty of around £200m to spend on new signings should he take over at the Emirates.

I miss Mourinho, Man Utd – Ibrahimovic

Forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic has said that he ‘misses Manchester United and Jose Mourinho’ in a video posted on the club’s official Twitter page on United’s awards evening.

The 36-year-old said: “I see you are doing well. You made it to the [FA Cup] final, which I like a lot even if I am not there. Here, everything is okay. I enjoy the sun every day.

“I want to say to all the fans: ‘I miss you, I miss playing at Old Trafford and seeing all the red shirts’. I have great memories from there. I want to thank everybody for the push, adrenaline and energy you gave me. I want to thank my teammates also because you have been fantastic and you made it easy for me.

“Coach [Jose Mourinho], I miss you also. You know what you need to do to win. There is no secret behind that.”

Neymar won’t join Madrid this summer – Ronaldo

Former Real Madrid forward Ronaldo has doubted that Los Blancos will be able to sign Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar in this summer’s transfer window.

“Neymar? He joined PSG in a massive transfer and they do not need money,” Ronaldo told Cadena Ser. “They will not be forced into any sale regardless of any offer or interest from any club, whether that is Real Madrid or somewhere else.

“Perhaps in a few years a deal would be possible but at the moment I do not believe we are in that position, but he is still young with a big future. He enjoys Paris and he made the decision to move there recently because he wanted to change his scenery.”

Neymar is on course to represent Brazil at the 2018 World Cup despite initial suggestions that the attacker could miss this summer’s tournament.

David Luiz to join Napoli

Chelsea defender David Luiz has been linked with a move to Serie A title contenders Napoli this summer.

The 31-year-old is two years into his second spell with the Blues but has made just 10 Premier League appearances this season following a fall-out with manager Antonio Conte.

The Italian looks almost certain to depart Stamford Bridge at the end of the current campaign but Luiz has still been tipped to move on as he looks to regain regular first-team football.

According to The Sun, Napoli – currently second in the Serie A and four points behind leaders Juventus – is the Brazilian’s most likely destination as they look to mount another title challenge next season.

The newspaper claims that Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez could quit the Magpies to return to Napoli for a reunion with Luiz, whom he managed during a six-month caretaker spell in charge of Chelsea in 2013.
