German Coach, Gernot Rohr, has reportedly been chosen ahead of Coach Stephen Keshi to become the next handler of the Burkina Faso National team.

The 61-year-old ex-Gabon and Niger boss was considered as being more suitable ahead of the duo of Keshi and Serbian Milovan Rajevac who were all in the previously drawn three-man shortlist.

Rohr who has been out of job since October 2014 is yet to agree to terms and sign a contract but he is expected to sort the knotty issues and will be unveiled at a media conference next week.

Before now, Keshi who in 2013 led Nigeria to victory at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, was seen as the strong favourite for the Stallions job and the Big Boss was already speaking on what he hopes to do if he was hired.

“My ambitions remain the same from one national team to another. I don’t want to have the job just to have the job but to bring a real plus,”

“If I am chosen, by the grace of God, I first want to qualify Burkina Faso for the 2017 AFCON finals and why not for the next World Cup as I did with Togo.

“And then I want to do what it takes to go as far as possible in those competitions. Everything is possible.”

He added: “There is no success without vision, without hard work and without confidence. If all those things are in place, I insist that the Stallions can compete with the best in Africa.

“If I get the job, my objective is to transmit this desire of giving it all for their country, this winning culture, to follow the local players and instil a healthy competition between them like I did in Nigeria with youngsters like Sunday Mba and others locals who went on to be Africa champions in 2013.

“As head coach of Nigeria, I played the 2013 AFCON final against these Stallions and I was very pleased with them.”

With the Burkina Faso job now missed, it is yet to be seen if Keshi will steep low to accept the downgraded contract the Nigeria Football Federation is planning to throw at him.
