Napoli Ready To Pounce For Fernando Torres As Mourinho Objects To His Return

The Spanish striker has struggled since moving to the Rossoneri on loan from Chelsea this summer, and reports this morning indicated that the club could cancel his loan in January.

Despite just one goal in 11 Serie A games, the Daily Mail reported that Napoli coach Rafa Benitez could make a move for the striker.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of Chelsea’s game with Hull City, Jose Mourinho admitted he didn’t know if the rumours were true, but ruled out Torres returning to west London.

“That’s an impossible picture,” the Portuguese said of Torres’ return. “He’s on loan for two seasons at AC Milan. We have no space.

“We have no space for players in our list either in the Champions League or in the Premier League.

“But I have to say that nobody from AC Milan made contact with us thinking about that possibility.

“Probably nothing is true. And more than possible he is happy at Milan.”

Benitez worked with Torres at Liverpool and Chelsea, and according to the newspaper the Partenopei would be willing to take the misfiring forward on loan until the summer.

The former Atletico Madrid man would be able to compete in the Neapolitan club’s Europa League campaign, with Milan not involved in European competition this term.
