Arsene Wenger has revealed that Gabriel Paulista is on his way to Arsenal and has a lot of potential and will adapt well to English football, as reported by the BBC.
Paulista has long been linked with a move to the Gunners this month and the deal will be done tomorrow, as reported by Wenger and the Daily Star.
Wenger had been worried about the possibility of being denied a work permit – something which caused him to miss out on Angel Di Maria, as reported by the BBC.
Speaking to the BBC after the thrilling 3-2 victory over Championship side Brighton, Wenger revealed why he moved for Paulista:”He is a defender, can play on the flanks as well, tall, pacey and strong in the challenges.
“He has a good chance to adapt to English football. I see in him good potential and he can be a good addition to the squad. It could be done before the draw tomorrow.”
The Brazilian defender didn’t take part in Villarreal’s La Liga clash with Levente last night adding more fuel to the speculation that he would be leaving, as reported by the Express.
With Paulista coming in, Wenger sent Joel Campbell out to Villarreal on a loan deal for the rest of the season to help sweeten the deal to ward off a move from Manchester United for the 24-year-old centre-back, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Arsenal had lined up an alternative in the form of Manchester United target Aleksandar Dragovic who was linked with a £15million move to the Gunners, as reported by the Daily Mail.
