Southampton Doomed For Relegation?

Southampton have endured a somewhat topsy-turvy season. Even before the first Premier League ball had been kicked this season, having seen a number of their stars depart St. Mary’s over the summer, many had tipped the Saints for the drop.

However, under Ronaldo Koeman, the south coast club hit the ground running and were flying high, proving their critics wrong.

Picking up win after win, and hitting Sunderland for eight in the process, Southampton were, at one stage, sitting in second place in the Premier League – just three points behind leaders Chelsea.

But after a torrid couple of weeks in which they suffered three consecutive defeats and were held by a woeful Aston Villa, it seems that Southampton’s bubble has well and truly burst.

The defeat to Burnley was undeniable proof.

Ronald Koeman’s side still sit in a respectable fifth place, but those aforementioned critics are back and predicting Southampton’s future
