Warri Wolves Reject West Ham Bid For Egwuekwe

West Ham have had a bid rejected for Nigerian club Warri Wolves’ defender Azubuike Egwuekwe.

The centre back has been a target of the Hammers, and Championship side Watford, this month but it appears both clubs may miss out on the 25-year-old.

A bid of less than £1million has been batted away by the Nigerian side for the international defender who already has more than 30 caps for the Super Eagles who missed out on the African Cup of Nations.

Warri Wolves admitted they turned down a bid and that a January move is almost complete elsewhere.

“We rejected a bid from West Ham because we had disagreement with the agent handling the issue,” a club spokesman told the Standard.

“The Club will make an official statement as regards his final destination soon.”

Egwueke admits he has had plenty of offers and will be leaving his current club.
“Offers are coming from overseas, I have an offer from an EPL club, the Championship and from Russia,” Egwueke told reporters in Nigeria last week.
“I am still a Warri Wolves player, but at the end of this month, I hope to say bye bye to Warri Wolves.”
